Testimonials

We had the pleasure of Dr Jonathon Welch AM facilitating his unique and passionate (singing & songwriting) team-building activity with our entire Bundaberg Brewed Drinks workforce yesterday.

While the activity was very confronting for many, Jonathon’s ability to entertain, empathise and engage set them at ease, enabling them to work together to achieve things they could not have imagined.

We were able to entwine team-building with our company values, creating an outcome that was creative, while at the same time building the culture and behaviours that we as a business desire.

Thank you, Jonathon!

Today, I had the opportunity to learn a bit about you and your great life achievements at the Bundaberg Brewed Drinks team building day.

Having been very involved in music and choir activities my complete school life back in Germany where I grew up, this day today was basically the perfect team building day for me. I loved your approach which was different to any one else and was quite impressed about the quality of the task results.

Mr Welch, unfortunately I was way too shy to speak to you today in person but I would love to thank you for getting to know a little bit about your amazing activities on this fantastic team building day today.

I hope very much to experience a day like this again one day.

Thank you!

After hearing Jonathon Welch deliver his keynote at the 2010 APACA Conference in Melbourne, the Mandurah Performing Arts Centre (MPAC) engaged Jonathon to present a morning melodies recital, a choirmasters masterclass, and a series of masterclasses for 4 schools choirs and 7 community choirs over three days culminating in a community choral concert.

The morning mels concert was effectively Jonathon’s keynote address with song, telling the story of his life with a particular focus on the Choir of Hard Knocks aka Choir of Hope and Inspiration.

What a punch this combination delivered ... there wasn’t a dry eye in the house!

With the masterclasses, Jonathon proved to be an extraordinarily gifted teacher with a great understanding of the differing requirements of each of the choirs, from the Mandurah Primary School Choir to Janie’s Boys, an 8 piece choir of men in their 70s who perform songs from their era in Mandurah’s many retirement villages!

This significant investment in the Peel region choirs was MPAC’s first real foray into working with our choral sector, and the choice of Jonathon couldn’t have been a better one.

Jonathon is charismatic, has a great story to tell in his life journey, and as stated before possesses a phenomenal understanding of the professional development requirements of community choirs.

Before he arrived, the interest from our community choirs was guarded with half of our choirs not committing to this opportunity.

After the community concert, a posse of choirmistresses approached me to make an understanding that when I commit to bringing Jonathon back again they want to meet me on mass to work out the logistics and ensure they are all involved.

Overall, the level of engagement and development that the Mandurah choral scene achieved over 5 days with Jonathon Welch was extraordinary.
