NO MORE HARD KNOCKS FOR JONATHON AND THE CHOIR

Despite what you might have read in the press or heard on the news, the 70 members of Choir and I are still together along with all our wonderful volunteer Choir "Angels" and original staff, singing and rehearsing every Wednesday in preparation for all the exciting concerts we have coming up in the near future!

I resigned from the charity that was auspicing the Choir at arms length on March 3, and the Choir is now run by its own independent incorporated association, Melbourne Street Choir Inc., with all members having full democratic rights to make decisions and have knowledge and transparency on all aspects of how the Choir is being run – which is very exciting for the Choir moving forward and how it should have been from day one!

No more hard knocks for the Choir – we are moving forward together as one, and I am more committed than ever to working with the Choir as their Founding Music Director, and the honour it is to work with these passionate, talented and inspiring people!

We are looking for a positive new name for the Choir that will represent how the Choir sees themselves today given the amazing musical and personal transformation over the past two and a half years, and how the public also perceives the Choir today given how much hope and joy they have brought to so many people.

To help us find a new name we are asking everyone to help us and invite you to put forward your ideas and thoughts on our new website www.savethechoir.com

We've already had over 200 names with lots of great suggestions including The Choir to Inspire, Heart and Soul Choir and Choir of Odd Sox ... so keep the ideas coming ... we know that we will have a wonderful new name to share with the world soon!

The launch of the new name will be made in the coming weeks, along with our plans for the Choir moving into an exciting your chapter of their journey.

I can't thank you enough for your continued support of the Choir, and look forward to sharing our music and representing the Community of those experiencing disadvantage, giving them a beautiful voice out of the dark that lights up the whole world with their singing and passion!

No matter what the name of the Choir is, it is the people in it that matter, and they are the ones that have inspired us all to have the courage to never judge a book by its cover and have changed forever how we look at those suffering from mental illness, addictions and homelessness.
